o Market research is an essential means for connecting with customers at Microsoft. In this position you will have the opportunity to impact product development and marketing by representing the voice of the customer to senior decision-makers and executives. Specifically, the Windows Server Solutions Group senior research manager will provide customer and market insights to help inform our Solutions products strategy for products such as Small Business Server and other segment-optimized server solutions.
Responsibilities:
o Understand the research needs and develop a research strategy in cooperation with the Windows Server Solutions Group. Development of a research plan that informs both short-term and long-term decisions.
o Ensure that key stakeholders take appropriate action based on the customer and market insights we deliver, and that they use the market research to help plan and direct their business.
o Design, execute and report out Microsoft's global product research by working with the key stakeholders in development and marketing teams. This includes the management of research across all phases of the product release cycle from business strategy development and product planning through launch and in-market activities. Specific responsibilities include:
§ Setting research objectives with internal partners
§ Working across divisions to design studies
§ Research vendor selection and management
§ Development of questionnaires/discussion guides
§ Analytical plans for reporting; analysis of results
§ Delivery of written reports and presentations, including insights and recommended actions
We are looking for candidates with the following abilities:
o Ability to work effectively and collaboratively across groups
o Ability to build partnerships and develop strong influence strategies
o Understanding of how research is interconnected and ability to adjust plans as needed
o Ability to quickly understand and analyze market drivers and key technology trends, and derive insights from multiple and diverse data sets
o Ability to ramp up quickly on new technology areas and passion for technology
Experience Required:
A minimum of eight year's experience in market research is required. Technology industry experience desirable. Strong research project management experience and quantitative skills required. Experience with international research and understanding the needs of home-based and small to mid-sized companies is also desired. Applicant must have a demonstrated ability to apply market research in order to produce fact-based business insights and actionable results. Candidate should possess excellent strategic thinking, communication and presentation skills. Some travel is required.
Successful Completion of Background check is required for this opportunity
Education:
o Bachelor's degree required (MBA or PhD with market research emphasis is a plus)
