Web Development Manager - San Francisco, CA
We're looking for an experienced individual with technical management experience to join our dynamic Web development team. As part of our daily challenges, we strive to build premier content management and reporting tools for digital media distribution.
The Web Development Manager is a hands-on management position where the right candidate will successfully lead and mentor the engineering team through key strategic opportunities. The ideal candidate will also possess the technical acumen to be a proactive participant in the technical and architectural direction to support our growing architecture.
Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor our skilled development team in designing and implementing web-based applications
Day to day management of engineers giving both technical and career guidance
Work directly with product development and operations teams throughout all phases of project lifecycles
Communicate effectively at senior, managerial, and technical levels and clearly present approaches and findings related to resolving objectives
Ensure the cohesiveness of the engineering team, working collaboratively for the good of the company
Drive teams and products to excellence in analysis and decision making
Qualifications:
5+ years overall experience designing and developing complex web-based applications and/or database-driven web sites (Online Media Web experience is a plus)
2+ years experience in a leadership or management role (managing a team with an iterative release process)
Good coding experience with PHP5 (OO a plus), Javascript (OO libs/frameworks: prototype, YUI, etc.), HTML, CSS, and SQL (MySQL)
Excellent analytical/problem solving skills, ability to think creatively and solve complex technical problems
Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
Nice to Have:
Exposure to Service-Oriented Architecture (SOAP, REST, etc.)
Good knowledge of MVC Frameworks (Zend, Rails, or etc.)
Hands on experience with Agile software development methodologies (e.g. scrum)
Experience with Version Control Systems such as Subversion or CVS
Experience with continuous integration and test-driven development
